You ask what can be done with so much grief, whether near to home or far away. This question has no easy answer, but there is another question whose answer we know in our hearts.

What must we not do? Whatever you do, do not remain silent. Do not remain silent. Do not remain silent. Silence has always helped perpetrators, never the victims of violence.

If you know a truth, tell its story. If you know a person or family who is grieving, who has a loved one imprisoned, or who has been injured, tell their story. Tell the truth.

Do not imagine that your narrative has no value or effect before so much suffering and grief. If it had no effect, they would not devote all their resources to constructing and fabricating narratives. If what happened is not narrated, it is as though it never occurred, and in the vacuum left by the absence of its true narrative, false narratives will fill minds and the pages of history.

They know well that whoever controls the narrative of the past controls the future, and whoever controls the narrative of today will also take possession of the narrative of the past.

Tell the story, in whatever language you can, to people throughout the world. Any suffering can be given meaning if its story is told.
Shared meaning is created from shared narratives and shared stories.
