When words arise from truth and kindness, they can change the world. (Buddha)
Years ago a dear friend, whom I have not seen for many years, told me that during a journey to India he spent days in seclusion in an ashram without finding an answer to the question for which he had travelled. Then one day he saw a man approach him, take him by the arms, lift him to his feet, look into his eyes and say simply:
“Go and act upon what you believe.”
He spoke those few words and walked away.
My friend told me that, bewildered by this brief encounter, he cried continuously for hours and did not know why.
There had been no sermon and no knowledge had been taught. Anyone could have said those words, and he himself had already known what he had heard without needing to endure the hardship of travel or days of retreat. He never understood what it was in those few simple words that had transformed him so deeply.
I believe that no one can give to another what they do not possess within themselves.
The person whose heart is inhabited by fear will not create courage, and the person whose own heart is imprisoned will not become a liberator.
Words are powerful, and their power is not inherent in the words themselves but in the person who brings them together.
The person whose life is united with their words creates powerful language that penetrates to the depths of the soul and changes something in the listener.
Words are powerful and can change the world, just as they have always changed history.
Words are powerful!
They can heal, inspire, create, destroy ... They can change the world!
Confucius says:
“Without knowing the force of words, it is impossible to know more!”
And Buddha shows us the path:
“When words are both true and kind, they can change our world!”
