When a political system eliminates the possibility of thought, it also eliminates the possibility of a thoughtful defence of that political system. Violence, the exercise of violence and the use of force therefore become something like the very nature of such political systems. Although these systems sometimes try, through rhetoric, to justify their actions, by making thought impossible within society they also become incapable of creating a meaningful linguistic world. Repressing thought means, above all, destroying a political system’s capacity to provide an intellectual justification of itself and its political requirements. The death of thought brings about the death of the political and, ultimately, of government itself.
