The most authentic form of freedom is to be able to be yourself without anxiety.

It is not having to trade your truth and your beliefs for a mask every day.

A society that gives masks to its citizens steals from them truth, honesty and even moral authenticity.

Such a society rewards pretence, hypocrisy and falsehood, while punishing and marginalising people who are genuine and without masks.

No great revolution has ever occurred without the breaking of masks. What gives promise today of a major transformation in Iranian society is the courageous rising of individuals who break their masks and step out from the uniform mask of silence and indifference imposed upon them.

Only through the courage to break masks does revolution begin from liberated individuals within society.

Only by breaking masks can truth, honesty and ethics acquire genuine meaning, and human beings experience life as life itself rather than as a prologue to a play that will never begin.

Let us break the masks and rise. We have kept life waiting for years. The time has come to be genuine, to respect ourselves and to respect truth.
