The true struggle and fundamental dualism have never been between modernity and tradition, the contemporary world and the past, or modern human beings and historical human beings. History did not end with the human being of the past, and it will not end with the human being of today.

What I see across history as the true struggle is, on one side, the struggle of forces that seek to shatter unique human individuality, subject independent human thought to tyranny, and imprison freedom and consciousness. Throughout history these forces have bound human individuality in the name of tribe, tradition, official religions, ideologies, and public beliefs and opinions. These forces, those who have surrendered their existence to them, and the instruments through which they have ruled human beings across the world existed yesterday and still exist today.

On the other side of this historical struggle, I see forces that throughout history have tried to free the human being from these bonds, enable the individual to overcome fate, and expand consciousness and freedom. These forces existed in the ancient world and are present today as well.
