Ta'vil means returning phenomena to the truth of what they are.

In this video we will see how, by interpreting the structure of the creation story and returning this ancient myth to the archetypes that constitute it, we can arrive at a deep psychological understanding of it.

The story begins with Adam and Eve enclosed within a garden in which everything exists in ultimate order. Suddenly, a serpent appears in this garden. The serpent symbolizes the devil and chaos. The serpent persuades Eve to eat the fruit of consciousness. Eve then persuades Adam to eat the forbidden fruit of consciousness as well. In this way, through their entry into self-consciousness, Adam and Eve are expelled from the Garden of Eden and from absolute and perfect order, and are thrown into history, where their adventurous hero’s journey begins. Once consciousness has emerged through an encounter with chaos, it is no longer possible to remain within the previous order; the Fall, or the beginning of the hero’s journey, therefore becomes necessary.

Chaos and order are the oldest and most fundamental human archetypes. From the beginning of the creation story, consciousness has continually sought to bring chaos into order; at the same time, all human stories begin with chaos and with an encounter with it.
