Suddenly,
I think I can remember
your fingernails more precisely:
long and delicate,
as if they were the cherry’s little niece.
Then
your hair passes through my memory,
and I think I have seen your image,
like an immense fire burning upon the sea.

The small springtime of our life was born:
Areliana Mehr Areta.

Several friends asked me the meaning of our daughter’s name.
Areliana is a compound name. It joins “Liana,” described here in Persian as meaning “radiant lady,” with the prefix “Ar,” interpreted as a reference to Iran and Aryan identity in Iranian names. Mehr is her middle name.
