My dear friends,

It is difficult for me to put into words how grateful I am for your good hearts and your valuable presence. Your gifts arrived, and I lit the candle for my forty-fourth birthday with the light of your hearts.

You may have often heard the cliché that Iranians do not help one another and never manage to complete a collective undertaking together. I do not believe these clichés. I believe in your hearts, and in hands that are both friendly and generous.

I believe in my friends, near and far, who together wished for our compatriot Leila to regain the colours and light of life and to move through the difficulties she faces today.

I am happy to bring you the good news that the gifts you kindly and generously offered, in the name of friendship and my birthday, toward our shared heartfelt wish have reached the equivalent of 110 million tomans in Iranian currency, and the entire amount will be given to dear Leila.
